DDS ENGINEERING, PLLC began working with the Bowling Green Area Development Authority in 2000 to expand the existing 900 acre industrial park. We performed the research and field surveys necessary to prepare the plats and deed descriptions required for zone changes to add nearly 200 acres to the park, creating “Section 4”. The most recent expansion of the industrial park was the addition of Kawanishi Way. The Bowling Green Area Development Authority recently received a $250,000 grant from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for the first phase of construction for Kawansishi Way. DDS was charged with the preparation of design plans, profiles, cross sections, and details, and supporting storm water management calculations for a new access roadway, extended (1,000 linear feet). DDS also prepared preliminary design (line and grade design) for the future 3,600 linear foot extension of Kawanishi Way to the proposed Southwestern Parkway. DDS ENGINEERING, PLLC was tasked with utility and boundary research and a boundary and topographic survey of the proposed right of way and surrounding property. We prepared the Civil Engineering construction documents for this project, including geometric layout of the roadway, curbs and gutters, sidewalks/bike paths, crosswalks, and new roadway drainage. The construction documents for this project were delivered to the client in sufficient time to meet the desired timeline to request construction bids and select a contractor in February 2009. DDS ENGINEERING, PLLC also produced and managed the construction bid process. We developed the documentation required for the request of bids and served as a consultant to the client throughout the process. As a result of the clarity of the plans and the simplified design the project cost was approximately 50% under budget.
