The National Corvette Museum:

Highly visible to travelers along I-65 is the chromium yellow frustum of the National Corvette Museum. The frustum, is just one of the unique features of the building which is designed to conceptually replicate various dashboard shapes and radii of the first 1953 Corvette. Educational and entertaining collections and displays are located throughout the museum, and the space beneath the open ceiling of the frustum is often utilized for meetings, special events and displays. Host to the Corvette Homecoming and dozens of other yearly events, the museum is also in partnership with other automotive and/or automobile museums across the country.

We began our professional services for the museum by preparing an as-built survey of the steel framing of the frustum as construction was underway. The contractors used
our data to reposition their sheathing and re-drill the bolt holes in the covering of the framework. In a later project, DDS ENGINEERING, PLLC prepared a topographic survey and civil engineering plans for the development of an amphitheater. Further, we prepared a storm water analysis of the existing retention basin, and provided site and grading plans for its enlargement.

Our current work for the museum is consulting on the building expansion and site plan development related to proposed overall expansion of the museum. These services include preparing site design master plans, detailed oral and graphic presentations to the Board of Directors and review of Architectural plans.
