BHE Environmental, Inc. :
DDS ENGINEERING,
PLLC
is pleased to have the
opportunity to be working with BHE
Environmental, Inc.’s, Cincinnati, Ohio office
on a couple of large projects in Tennessee. Some
interesting facts about the sites are: the
properties consist of old abandoned phosphate
mines, a Calcium Silicate stockpile,
environmentally sensitive areas, abandoned
railroads, large above and underground
utilities, lakes, pipelines and abandoned plant
sites and of course, dense woods.
DDS ENGINEERING,
PLLC
scope of work is to provide
survey support for these projects. The
properties range in size from roughly 258 acres
to approximately 1,500 acres. The detailed scope
of work for the project includes control for
aerial mapping, obscure area field location work
for enhancement of the mapping, boundary and
ALTA surveying services, boundary marking and
re-establishment of missing or destroyed corner monumentation and X, Y and Z, coordinates for
monitoring well locations.
DDS ENGINEERING,
PLLC
is utilizing the latest and most advanced
surveying equipment, technology and computer
software available in surveying today. Our
Trimble R8 GNSS System (Global Navigation
Satellite System) equipped an internal 450 MHz
radio for use in a RTK base station and rover
situation and an external cell phone for
internet connectivity has proven to be
invaluable to the project. Due to the rough
terrain, we have combined the Trimble R8 GNSS
System with our Leica Robotic Total Stations,
and our rough terrain field mobility units (John
Deere Gators and Honda ATV’s). We are excited to
be involved with the project and look forward to
being a valuable asset and team member to BHE
Environmental, Inc.

Trimble R8 GNSS:
DDS
ENGINEERING,
PLLC
has recently upgraded our Global Position System
(GPS) equipment to the most advanced GPS
equipment and software available today. The
Trimble R8 GNSS System (Global Navigation
Satellite System) is a multi-channel,
multi-frequency receiver, antenna, and data-link
radio in one compact unit. The technology in the
R8 supports all GPS signals including the
modernized L2C signal, the GLONASS L1/L2 signals
and the coming L5 signal. We have equipped our
system with an external cell phone for internet
connectivity and use it as a rover for precise
control survey work and Real Time Kinematic
(RTK) surveying projects. This is achieved by
connecting our Trimble R8 GNSS System via the
internet to the Kentucky Department of
Transportation’s base station network. To make
our system more versatile, we have also equipped
our system with an internal 450 MHz radio for
use in a RTK base station and rover situation.
This setup allows us to work in practically any
GPS situation and at any location across the
country. The system is rugged, lightweight, and
cable free which allows for more flexibility and
efficiency in the field. The Trimble R8 GNSS
System combined with our Robotic Total Stations,
our rough terrain field mobility units (John
Deere Gators and Honda ATV’s) and experienced
personnel provide you with the confidence that
your project will be completed on time, within
budget, and with the maximum accuracy and
productivity possible.

Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park Miniature
Golf Course:

Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park |
DDS ENGINEERING,
PLLC was
selected to design an
eighteen hole miniature
golf course adjacent to
the new campground store
facility. We designed
the course using a
nautical theme: greens
designed in shapes to be
reminiscent of life
rings, boats and
paddles, and the
decorative amenities to
evoke navy/nautical
elements. Obstacles in
and around the course
are to be of native
materials. Play starts
and ends on ADA
accessible holes.

Western Kentucky University:
DDS ENGINEERING,
PLLC
has for almost 30 years performed a
variety professional services on the
property of the university. Many of the
projects shown in this section were
performed by us while under direct
contract to the Commonwealth of
Kentucky. Some of our services
have been as consultants to
architectural firms who lead the design
of buildings and open spaces there.
Other times we may have been called in
to provide vital consulting services to
a contractor in process of an
installation on the campus. Our work
here is continual, and at this time we
have even more surveying, consulting,
and design work in progress on the main
campus of
Western Kentucky University.
Please take a look at some of our
accomplishments by clicking on the map
and following the links to individual
projects. Thanks!

The National Corvette Museum:

National
Corvette Museum |
Highly visible to travelers along I-65
is the chromium yellow frustum of the
National Corvette Museum.
The frustum is just one of the unique
features of the building which is
designed to conceptually replicate
various dashboard shapes and radii of
the first 1953 Corvette.

DDS ENGINEERING,
PLLC
recently
completed the initial underground cave
surveys and provided preliminary
recommendations for the relocation of
the existing dam within the
Lost River Cave. The
proposed relocation of the dam will
enable
Lost River Cave to provide
much longer cave boat tours and add to
the enjoyment and education benefit of
one of Bowling Greens natural wonders.
