Western Kentucky University is the third largest
university in Kentucky. Its campus dates from the late
1800's, and today covers more than 400 acres in the
center of Bowling Green, Kentucky. In the fall of 2004,
plans were begun for the renovation of Big Red Way,
which is one of the major north south vehicular routes
through the campus. It has been a one way access for
many years, but in its renovation will become a two way
route with lighted and landscaped median, from its
intersection with University Boulevard to 15th street.
DDS ENGINEERING,
PLLC
performed research, field reconnaissance,
boundary surveys, topographic surveys and office
calculations to support the preparation of a topographic
map at one-foot contours, showing numerous spot
elevations which would be important in the re-design and
construction of the new medians and access points. We
will also prepare the Civil Engineering construction
documents for this project, including geometric layout
of all new curbs and gutters, crosswalks, medians and
renovated radii and curve tapers.
